Alexander
(Lex) von Rudloff was born in Pretoria, South Africa in 1951. He was educated
at Christian Brothers’ College and graduated in English Literature and
Political Science at UNISA. He found his opposition to the apartheid
system leading him into exile in Botswana in 1973 where he obtained
citizenship in 1978. After teaching for seven years and a long career in the
construction industry, he began writing, and was the scriptwriter of the
successful Setswana television drama series, RE BINA MMOGO
in 2005. He now writes full time,
supplementing his income with consultancy work. He and his wife live with
their young son Kabo in Mokatse, a small traditional village in the Kgatleng
District of Botswana, about thirty kilometres northeast of Gaborone. He has two
grown-up sons: Otto lives in Gaborone with his wife and their young son, and
Munaf lives and works in Canada. He is an executive member of the Writers’
Association of Botswana (WABO)
and chairman of the CamelThorn
Media Trust. In his spare time he enjoys painting and
making music. |
